For those who haven't ventured there yet, Danqing Island is this gorgeous mystical land that was added in the 1.8 update. It's packed with new adventures, items, and resources that Nikki and Momo can discover—and trust me, you'll want to collect everything!
I've been obsessed with crafting the Drifting Blossoms fragrance (it's SO worth it), but kept running into a roadblock: I needed a ton of Inkblot Buckles and had no idea where to find them at first. After some exploration, I figured out the secret!
How to Get Inkblot Buckles
So here's the deal: Inkblot Buckles come from purifying these cute-but-deadly Esselings called Inkblot Bags. They look kinda like the Trap Sharks from Wishfield's Wishing Woods area, but they're a lighter blue shade. I actually thought they were the same thing at first! 🤦♀️
The Inkblot Bags are scattered around Danqing Island, and once you purify your first one, the game adds Inkblot Buckles to your map's item tracker—which is super helpful because who has time to wander aimlessly, right?
Best Locations to Hunt
I've found several reliable spots where these little guys spawn regularly:
But wait, there's more! Don't forget to check inside Aroma Cave and Echo Grotto. These are the two caverns where you complete the Find Fragrance quests (they're under the 'Worldly Encounters' tab in the 'Fun to Play' menu if you're wondering). I actually found a bunch inside these caves, which saved me tons of time running around the island.
Purification Process
Once you spot an Inkblot Bag, purifying it is pretty straightforward—just aim for their backside (the part not covered by metal) with your purifying orbs. Each one gives you exactly 1 Inkblot Buckle. It took me a while to figure out I needed to hit the back specifically... was anyone else shooting randomly at first? 😅
